N2 - Retail beamed power has many potential applications. This paper concentrates on the short range (within 100 km), low efficiency (less than 50%) applications of beamed power transfer. Such applications include connecting micro to medium sized electronic devices with distributed energy sources, transmission of power to mobile consumers, and rapid restructuring of conventional wired grid topology for damage mitigation. The innovations required for realizing these applications are discussed.
