Abstract

For Pt. I, see ibid. , pp. 1567-1573. An induction electrohydrodynamic (EHD) pump in axisymmetric, vertical configuration was designed and built. The flow rates were measured for various values of the frequency, voltage, wavelength, electric conductivity, and entrance temperature profile in both forward and backward modes. With the apparatus at relatively low voltages, velocities four times higher than the natural circulation velocity are obtained. The external pressure load and entrance temperature profile play an important role in the operation of the pump and must be considered in the design.
