Abstract

Altering morphology "mutates" the optical properties of semiconductors. Nanofabrication allows structures at scales insensible to optical waves. Low-optical-overlap modes (LOOMs) are capable of ultra-low propagation loss, nonlinearity and dispersion in high power and signal processing applications.
