Increased maximum count rates in single-photon avalanche diodes with ultrafast active quenching

Abstract

We demonstrate ultrafast active-quenching techniques in a silicon single-photon avalanche diode, and observe an order of magnitude reduction in afterpulsing, a factor of 1.8 reduction in diode recovery time, and increased maximum count rates.
