HINF-optimal fixed-order controllers

This paper considers the H control problem when there are dimensionality constraints (such as reduction of order) and informational restrictions (such as decentralization) on the controller, and develops a general methodology for solving such problems. The notion of a `structured cost-to-come function' is introduced, and it is shown how it can be used to construct optimally disturbance-attenuating controllers satisfying the given restrictions.
