Abstract

This paper will describe observed damage to the historic resources of the county and provide comprehensive damage statistics for these resources. In addition, the response of the engineering and planning community will be examined, and important concerns regarding historic buildings will be addressed. It is shown that in the case of historic buildings, it is nevessary to have expert engineers make detailed evaluations following the emergency inspections by organizations such as OES. In-depth analysis will provide for the most accurate assessment of the strength of the historic building and provide planners with the data required to make informed decisions.
