Abstract

We report the first observation of high-resolution solid-state n.m.r. spectra of the quadrupolar transition metal nucleus vanadium-51, in NH4[51VO3] and Na[51VO3], by means of rapid ‘magic-angle’ and ‘off-axis’ spinning experiments; the results indicate the general feasibility of obtaining high-resolution solid-state n.m.r. spectra of quadrupolar nuclei having large chemical shift (ca. l03 p.p.m.) and quadrupole (e2qQ/h ca. 3-5 M Hz) interactions.
