High performance parallelized discrete event simulation of stochastic queueing networks

Abstract

The author describes techniques for optimizing the performance of large queuing network simulations using a shared-memory multiprocessor. He gives empirical data showing that good speedups can sometimes be achieved. The author shows how the simulation can be reorganized to allow lookahead to be computed for several different queuing disciplines, and he demonstrates the effectiveness of the method by implementation on several common queuing network topologies.
