Abstract

The combustion of ethanol and blends of ethanol with diesel fuel and additives was investigated with the aid of a heat release model. The advantages of using ethanol as compared to using diesel fuel were amplified at high fuelling rates where maximum rates of premixed combustion were substantially less and duration of diffusion combustion was shorter.
