Abstract
This article discusses the interest of the U.S. in Russian theater which was influenced by various personalities in theater arts in the U.S. American interest began even before the fame of the Moscow Art Theatre tour in 1923. Writer Gordon Craig sparked American interest in Russian theater with his paper about the Moscow Art Theatre published in "The Mask" in 1909. Dramatic editor Oliver M. Sayler was one of those who influenced this interest through his paper about his trip to Russia.
