Abstract
Political psychology has never been more relevant to real politics and society broadly. At the same time, we suggest that innovation and forward thinking are critical to rise to the challenges facing this field. In this chapter, we lay out our vision and motivation for a handbook responding to this need. We discuss the urgency for reflection on the successes and innovations in political psychology as a field and the larger gains from this kind of academic endeavor. We end with a brief summary of the structure of the handbook that follows.
