Abstract

This special issue contains 11 papers from the IUFRO (International Union of Forest Research Organizations) conference, Copenhagen, 1993. After an introductory paper the following topics are covered: assessing the quality of permanent sample plot databases for growth modelling in forest plantations; permanent sample surveys for growth and yield studies - a Swiss example; the determination of time intervals between remeasurement of permanent plots; the precision of growth estimation using permanent horizontal point samples; variance derivations and related aspects of growth component estimators with successive variable-radius-plot samples; forest height growth modelling; application of regression analysis to inventory data with measurements on successive occasions; a quality assessment of the Weibull based growth projection system; evaluating a growth model for forest management using continuous forest inventory data; and growth and yield of a tropical rain forest in the Brazilian Amazon, 13 yr after logging. -S.R.Harris
