Gravel-bed channel instability

This paper is devoted to an overview of some recent research pertaining to equilibrium and stability in gravel-bed streams. No attempt is made here to provide a comprehensive literature survey. Emphasis is instead placed on the progress of several common threads of research being conducted by a loose coalition of researchers on a worldwide basis. Some of the results have applications to sand-bed streams as well, particularly in the case of poorly-sorted sand.
