Abstract
The gonadotropin receptors luteinizing hormone receptor and follicle stimulating hormone receptor are the main way the hormonal signals luteinizing hormone and follicle stimulating hormone communicate to the ovary. This article covers the gene and protein structure information about the receptors. It also illustrates the signaling pathways used by these two G-protein coupled receptors both generally and with references to functions within ovarian theca and granulosa cells. Finally, human mutations in these receptors that impact fertility are described.
