Abstract

A formulation is presented to extend the perfectly matched layer (PML) to arbitrary linear media presenting bianisotropy and/or dispersion. It is shown that, in these cases, a Maxwellian PML formulation is possible such that the PML can be realized as a medium with suitable defined bianisotropic constitutive tensors. A limitation of this approach is that it does not apply to nonlinear media.
