Abstract
The status of UV and VUV laser technology, including primary source development and nonlinear conversion techniques, is reviewed. Pressing issues demanding near-term attention (such as device reliability, gaps in existing source wavelengths and power and materials issues) as well as areas which appear to hold the greatest promise for future research and applications are also discussed.
