Abstract

An analytic study of the 2-D flow in a vertical homogeneous porous slot of infinite height and bounded by two vertical isothermal walls is undertaken. The convective flow induced by keeping the vertical boundaries at different temperatures is modelled by the Darcy-Forchheimer-Brinkman equation and a single energy equation. The non-Darcian effects (no-slip and inertial terms) diminish the flow rate and the flow is unstable at least to symmetric or antisymmetric (with respect to the channel centerline) 2-D infinitesimal disturbances.
