Abstract

Fourier transform classically has been attributed to Jean-Baptist Joseph Fourier (1768 - 1830) [1] who invented the Fourier series, from which Fourier transform is descended. Fourier worked for Napoléon Bonaparte and accompanied him to serve in Egypt. Rumor has it that Fourier series was inspired by his study of vibrational modes in a cannon.
