An elastic Raman scattering study of the magnetic-field-induced orbital and magnetic phases in Ca3Ru2O7 was discussed. The field-induced evolution of the orbital configuration and the attendant changes of the spin dynamics and structural properties were also induced. The different electric and magnetic properties associated with different orbital configurations in the above compound were demonstrated. The dramatic magnetic-field properties were found to be most prevalent in a mixed magnetic and orbital phase regime.
