Abstract
The design and fabrication of magnetic FePt microstructures from platinum-iron oxide core-shell nanoparticles using patterned Langmuir-Blodgett (pLB) method were discussed. The characteristics of the FePt patterns were investigated using scanning electron microscopy, powder x-ray diffraction, atomic force microscopy (AFM), magnetic force microscopy and superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) magnetometer. The topology of the sample patterns of pLB films on silicon substrates were investigated using tapping-mode AFM. It was observed that the magnetic properties of the final fct-phase patterns were tuned by varying the experimental conditions.
