Abstract

The experimental investigation of an internal antenna designed with a lossy plastic chassis was performed. The proposed design overcame the limitation of lossy dielectric cover by exposing the microstrip to open air. It also permitted larger bandwidth and minimum return loss frequency shifts from that of the microstrip antenna without lossy dielectric cover. The effects of lossy dielectric plastic beside microstrip patch antennas indicate the suitability of the lossy plastic chassis for internal antenna design.
