Abstract
Evolution strategies (ES) were discussed for automatic optimization of jet mixing. Evolution strategies useful in an experimental setting at realistic Reynolds number were presented. The different forcing parameters of very low-Reynolds-number compressible flows were evaluated using direct numerical simulation (DNS). The possibility of ES to find previously identified modes of efficient operation was explored. Discovery of previously unknown effective actuations was attempted.
