Abstract

The inelastic Raman scattering studies were used to study the evolution of magnetic polarons and spin-carrier interactions through the metal-insulator transition in Eu1-xGdxO. The studies were performed as a function of temperature, magnetic field and Gd substitution. The studies revealed the existence of a spin-fluctuation-dominated paramagnetic regime and a coexistence regime. The results showed a strong connection between spin cluster formation and the observed large field-induced effects.
