Abstract
The article offers information on the recovery of a brachiopod fossil at the Slinton Silt site in Jersey County, Illinois in June 2010. The positioning and presence of the fossil, or marine shell animal, raises several questions about the importance of the objects of past people and the very human concept of prehistoric art and aesthetics. The specific artifact indicates the significance of art and expression among prehistoric people.
