title = "Evaluation of Carbon Dioxide Capture Options from Ethanol Plants",
abstract = "The Illinois State Geological Survey and the Midwest Geological Sequestration Consortium (MGSC) have been conducting carbon dioxide (CO2) storage and enhanced oil recovery (EOR) testing in the Illinois Basin since 2003. Capital and operating costs for the equipment required to capture and liquefy CO2 from ethanol plants in the Illinois area were evaluated in 2005 to 2006 so that ethanol plants could be considered as a source of CO2 for the U.S. Department of Energy-sponsored MGSC CO2 pilot projects planned at that time. Continued and sustained public and private interest in the 2006 report provided the impetus to update and expand the report.",
