Abstract

A 2×1 coherent ion-implanted photonic crystal vertical-cavity surface-emitting phased laser array is digitally modulated at 36 Gb/s for error-free transmission. A dual-channel modulation scheme is implemented and digital modulation enhancement arising from coherence is studied.
