Abstract

The biomass feedstock production (BFP) subsystem, established by Energy Bioscience Institute (EBI) under the Engineering Solutions program, is aimed to provide necessary material inputs to the conversion process of biomass into fuel, power, and value-added materials. The subsystem includes the agronomic production of energy crops and the physical handling and delivery of biomass. The objectives of the program include pre-harvest energy crop monitoring, harvesting of energy crops, and systems informatics and analysis. The program team also proactively establishes effective collaborations with other EBI researchers on research areas such as feedstock genetics, biomass composition, and biotic stress, and ecosystem services. The objectives of dynamic analysis of biomass feedstock production system include pre-harvest energy crop monitoring and harvesting of energy crops.
