Endlessly single mode vertical cavity lasers

Abstract

Universal designs of photonic crystal vertical cavity lasers that yield single mode operation for all wavelengths (780, 850, and 980 nm) with output power >1.5 mW and side-mode suppression ratio >45 dB are reported.
