Abstract
The elastic moduli of a synthetic single crystal of pure FeSiO//3, orthoferrosilite, have been measured at 1 bar and 20 degree C by Brillouin spectroscopy. These new data are compared with the elastic properties of other orthopyroxenes obtained by single-crystal techniques in order to elucidate elasticity trends within this group of minerals.
