EGGSHELL STRESSES FROM FLAT PLATE AND THERMAL LOADS.

Abstract

The problem of flat plate loading at the equator of an egg was investigated. Finite element analysis provided insight into factors affecting the egg's strength. The contact problem is sufficiently nonlinear that the contact area, which is a function of the applied load, is found to be an important parameter.
