Effective Professional Development on the Use of Technology: Findings from Urban Teachers

Abstract

This study has three objectives. The first objective is to describe the pedagogical activities of two technology professional development models designed by the Institute for Learning Technologies (ILT) at Teachers College, Columbia University. The second objective is to investigate the impact of these activities on the technological knowledge, teaching practices and beliefs of eight teachers. The third and primary objective is to draw guidelines for the design of effective professional development programs that help teachers build capacity for technology integration.
