Abstract

The traditional ideal Evans-Perkins cycle analysis is extended to include the effects of the comfort of the conditioned space and finite airflow rates on cycle efficiency. Based on this, the performance of R410A and R744 for residential heating and cooling applications is compared. The effect on annual efficiency of the two refrigerants based on load requirements for three diverse climates is also discussed.
