Dynamical determination of the innermost stable circular orbit of binary neutron stars

Abstract

The innermost stable circular orbit (ISCO) of binary neutron stars was determined. Dynamical simulations were performed in full general relativity. The location of the ISCO was bracketed by distinguishing stable circular orbits. An ISCO orbital angular frequency somewhat smaller than that determined by applying turning-point methods was found out.
