Abstract

(Chemical Equation Presented) Joining amino acids and nucleotides: A deoxyribozyme catalyzes the nucleophilic attack of a tyrosine (Tyr) side chain on a 5′-triphosphate RNA, efficiently forming a Tyr-RNA nucleopeptide linkage (see picture). Thus, the scope of known DNA catalysis is further expanded beyond reactions of oligonucleotide functional groups.
