Abstract
Aside from conventional dry grind process in producing an animal food co-product called distiller's dried grains with solubles (DDGS), a new modified dry grind corn process are offered. Enzymatic dry grind corn process (E-Mill) that involves enzyme treatment and fractionation of corn in an aqueous medium to recover germ, pericarp fiber and endosperm fiber as valuable co-products has been developed. Other modified methods are dry degerm defiber that uses corn dry fractionation (3D) and elusieve process for separating fiber from the DDGS. These technologies reduce the amount of DDGS produced in a dry grind ethanol and improve its nutritional composition.
