Abstract

There are diode-pumped upconversion fiber lasers able to produce >0.3 W in the red and blue range, and the performance of these lasers have been demonstrated for four rare earth ions. Recent developments in low threshold lasers and lasing in Ho:ZBLAN in the infrared are discussed.
