Abstract

This article provides comprehensive coverage of structurally characterized cobalt and nickel dinitrogen and dihydrogen complexes. The number of cobalt dinitrogen and dihydrogen complexes has increased since the 2000s with the continued interest in nitrogen fixation and catalysis. Fewer nickel dinitrogen and dihydrogen complexes have been reported, likely due to the greater electronegativity of nickel, where appropriate ancillary ligand choice has led to their isolation and characterization. Despite this, both coordination compounds of dinitrogen and dihydrogen with cobalt and nickel are of great interest.
