Abstract
Accurate documentation of site conditions in any construction project is needed to minimize the possibility of disputes and to facilitate construction innovations and improvements. However, because the construction industry rely heavily on written reports to document site conditions, confusion and difficulty in claims and disputes are common, and innovative ideas to improve construction processes are lost. In order to solve these problems, the Digital Hard Hat, a data communication device for communicating/capturing construction site conditions was developed. The device not only provides an efficient tool for real-time 2-way communications but also allows construction personnel to better document construction conditions to mitigate claims and disputes, as well as to improve future design/construction.
