Differentiation of tumor types in vivo by scatterer property estimates and parametric images using ultrasound backscatter

Research output: Contribution to journalConference articlepeer-review

Abstract

The use of ultrasound backscattering to differentiate between different types of tumors by scatterer property estimates and parametric images was discussed. For the study, two kinds of solid tumors were acquired and scanned ultrasonicaly. The first tumor series consisted of mammmary tumors in rats and the second tumor series were acquired by cultering a carcinoma cell line in culture media. It was suggested that the parametric imaging utilizing the scatterer property estimates may be useful in diagnosis of disease and differentiating between type of mammary tumors.
