Determination of waveguide core and cladding refractive indices using single wavelength microring reflectors

Abstract

We present a method for accurate determination of refractive indices of waveguide core and cladding layers using reflective microrings. The resonant mode azimuthal order ambiguity is resolved by introducing a grating on the microrings.
