Design of a high-speed parallel kinematics X-Y table and optimal velocity scheduling for high-speed machining

Abstract

In this paper, a novel parallel kinematics scheme for developing a high-speed, high-accuracy XY table is described. Further, an algorithm for producing optimal velocity schedules along a given path, taking into consideration the acceleration and velocity constraints of the axes of a machine is described. Experimental results demonstrating the behavior of both the algorithm and the XY-table are presented.
