Abstract
Spanish/Quechua contact in the Peruvian region presents a fourth type of functional transfer not included in the typologies proposed in Heine/Kuteva (2005) and Siegel (2012). The minority possessive construction, su N + de N, evolves from disambiguating a kinship-relationship between two animates, to expressing an innovative attributive relationship between two inanimate nomináis connected to the Andean cosmovision. The analysis of this semantic change focuses on analyzing the points of convergence and conflict between the grammatical profiles of the two languages in contact, by exploring the relationships between the grammatical categories of possession, inalienability, and attribution.
