Abstract

Orchha is a historic fort and settlement in Madhya Pradesh founded by the Bundelas on the banks of the River Betwa in the sixteenth century. Its monuments, gardens, temples, and murals represent great achievements in the arts, building, and landscape design. The cultural landscape sustained a rich tradition of legends, ballads, and folk arts. The project is a blueprint for conservation of Orchha’s multi-dimensional heritage through site planning and design.
