Abstract

The crack growth behavior in 65/35 lead lanthanum zirconate titanate (PLZT) ceramic doped with 9% La under a cyclic electric field inclined 45 deg from the plane of a preexisting crack was experimentally studied. Crack deflected away from the original crack plane. After deflection, the crack propagated on a plane normal to the applied field.
