Abstract

A three-dimensional theoretical model was developed to examine the transient and steady state temperature distribution in the brain during selective brain cooling and rewarming. Two cooling approaches were proposed, one was packing the head with ice, and the other was wearing a cooling helmet. As such, simulation was conducted to evaluate the cooling penetration and the characteristic cooling time of both approaches.
