Abstract

This article examines contexts of learning as a connection between informal learning, or the casual learning that happens in everyday life, and the formal learning that occurs in the institutions of education. On this foundation it examines two significant contextual factors that are having an enormous impact on contemporary education: learner diversity and digital media. In each case, the article examines changing responses to these contextual shifts in formal educational institutions.
