Abstract
This paper proposes an integrated quality assurance system utilizing CADD systems as the front end. This system is intended to assist Corps of Engineers quality assurance (QA) personnel to ensure the contractor's quality control (QC) representatives understand the Corps' expectations and requirements. These expectations and requirements are linked through a database management system that associates CADD design components with definable features of work. Quality assurance personnel can access QA requirements directly from the CADD environment. As-built quality issues and opportunities for improvement can also be documented in the same structure to give designers the capability to query the system for future design improvements.
