Computational issues associated with optimal design of in situ bioremediation

Abstract

Computational issues associated with applying an optimal control algorithm to in situ bioremediation design are discussed. The issues include increased computational effort, convergence difficulties, and convergence to local minima. Strategies for reducing computational effort and overcoming convergence difficulties are presented.
