Abstract
In this paper, the eigenvalues of a cavity resonator are computed using edge-based finite elements, and it is shown that these elements offer significant improvements in accuracy, in addition to being suitable for modelling arbitrarily shaped inhomogeneous regions. A performance comparison between the edge-based tetrahedra and rectangular brick elements is also carried out.
