Comparison of rates of smectite illitization with rates of K- feldspar dissolution.

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Between 50o and 200oC rates of K uptake caused by smectite illitization were found to be much slower than rates of release of K by K-feldspar dissolution. The rate of K-feldspar dissolution should not, and does not, limit the rate of smectite illitization.-R.A.H.
